N. Korea Rejected S. Korea's Invitation to Gyeongwon Restoration Ceremony

The Unification Ministry says that North Korea rejected Seoul’s invitation to a ceremony held in August marking the launch of a project to restore the South Korean section of a disconnected inter-Korean railroad.

Ministry spokeswoman Jeong Joon-hee said on Monday in a regular news briefing that Seoul had invited Pyongyang to the ceremony in light of the significance of the project, but the North did not accept.

The Seoul government held the groundbreaking ceremony on August 5th in Cherwon to mark the launch of the project to restore the disconnected Gyeongwon Railway Line, which connected Seoul with Wonsan in North Korea.
