South and North Korea will exchange lists of candidates for inter-Korean family reunions set for late October, at the truce village of Panmunjeom on Tuesday.
The Korean Red Cross said it will select 250 candidates by Monday based on their health and inclination to participate in the reunions, with priority given to the elderly and those with direct family members in the North.
The list will include 200 regular family members and 50 family members of South Koreans held as prisoners of war or abducted by the North. If it is confirmed that their relatives are in North Korea, they will automatically be included in the final reunion list.
On Tuesday, North Korea will also provide South Korea with a list of 200 candidates.
The two Koreas will then exchange letters on October 5 to notify surviving separated families after which a final list of 100 participants from each side will be exchanged on October 8.
