South Korea has expressed regret over North Korea's slander of President Park Geun-hye's remarks made during her China trip.
Seoul's Unification Ministry issued a statement Friday in response to comments made by a spokesman of North Korea's Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland during an interview.
The ministry stressed that Pyongyang must stop such behavior, sincerely implement agreed upon points between the two sides, and cooperate in laying a cornerstone in advancing cross-border relations.
On Thursday, a spokesman for the North Korean propaganda committee condemned President Park for mentioning the North's land mine explosion attack during summit talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Calling her "extremely imprudent," the spokesman said the South Korean leader was blurting out irresponsible remarks that go against the spirit of the inter-Korean agreement as well as the current of the times.
The spokesman said Park's words have flared up a very serious situation that prevents the arrangement of upcoming inter-Korean schedules.
