North Korea has called for creating a constructive mood to improve inter-Korean relations and stop meaningless bickering over the recent breakthrough agreement.
Rodong Sinmun, the newspaper of the North's ruling Workers' Party, argued Friday that the two Koreas should not be bound by the past in order to successfully implement the inter-Korean agreement and substantially improve relations.
The paper called the land mine explosions that took place on the southern side of the Demilitarized Zone an "unsavory past," and claimed that if the Koreas were fixated on the past, they would not have been able to strike a deal.
The North also noted the implementation process of the agreement will not be smooth, noting possible differences in opinion. But it called for a patriotic, courageous decision to foster a constructive atmosphere to diffuse mistrust and confrontation and improve cross-border relations.
