North Korean media are urging improvements in inter-Korean relations following Kim Jong-un's remark about implementing the breakthrough deal reached with South Korea earlier this week.
The North's propaganda Web site Uriminzokkiri urged Saturday to shake off the determined heart of confrontation and distrust and create a constructive atmosphere to improve cross-border ties.
The North's propaganda weekly Tongil Sinbo also called for leaving behind the confrontational and hostile spirit of the past to open a new era of cooperation and unity, placing priority on the joint demands and interests of the Korean people.
Another North Korean Web site Dprktoday.com also made a plea to defuse military confrontation between the Koreas, defend the Korean people's safety and peace and open up a broad path toward improving inter-Korean relations.
Such calls by the North's propaganda media channels are viewed as reflecting Pyongyang's anticipation of the newly fostered dialogue phase with Seoul and its commitment to abide by the agreement struck earlier this week.
