Typhoon Goni Brings Heavy Rain, Strong Winds

Typhoon advisories have been issued in the provinces of North Gyeongsang, South Gyeongsang and eastern South Jeolla, which are feeling the effect of Typhoon Goni.
 
Rain and strong winds are continuing in the south and east coast areas while the port city of Busan is also reporting damage from this year's 15th typhoon. 
 
At around 7:50 a.m. Tuesday, a glass pane of a bus stop just outside Lotte Department Store in Busan's Jin district shattered due to strong winds, injuring seven people. Signboards and trees have also toppled onto streets.
 
Eight flights connecting Busan and Japan have been canceled while 20 or so domestic and international flights at Gimhae International Airport have also been postponed due to strong winds.
 
The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) forecast that Typhoon Goni will reach the East Sea before Tuesday afternoon and continue northward to impact waters east of Korea's Ulleung Island and Dokdo islets by early Wednesday.
 
As much as 200 millimeters of rain is expected on the east coast through Wednesday. Expected precipitation is 50 to 150 millimeters in Gyeongsang province inlands, Ulleung Island and Dokdo islets, while 20 to 60 millimeters is expected to fall in western Gangwon Province and North Chungcheong Province. 
 
The KMA said that central regions, the Jeolla provinces and Jeju Island will see up to 40 millimeters of rain through Wednesday.
