North Korea was quick to report on the two Koreas' agreement to meet at the truce village of Panmunjeom.

North Korean media, including the state-run Korea Central News Agency (KCNA), reported that the South Korean presidential office's Chief of the National Security Office, Kim Kwan-jin, and Unification Minister Hong Yong-pyo would meet with Workers' Party Secretary Kim Yang-gon and Hwang Pyong-so, director of the Korean People’s Army General Political Bureau.

The North reported the news an hour and 30 minutes after the South Korean media's announcement, which is exceptionally fast compared to its typical news practices.

North Korea also referred to the South as the Republic of Korea for the first time since the Lee Myung-bak administration.
