Rival Parties Urge N. Korea to Halt Provocation

Chiefs and floor leaders of the rival parties have adopted a statement vowing a concerted response to North Korea’s recent artillery provocation.

Ruling Saenuri Party Chairman Kim Moo-sung and Chairman Moon Jae-in of the main opposition New Politics Alliance for Democracy issued the statement on Saturday after holding a meeting at the National Assembly

The statement called on the North to immediately halt any provocation raising tensions on the Korean Peninsula.

The leaders also urged the South Korean government to engage in dialogue for a peaceful resolution to the situation.

The chiefs of the two parties vowed to halt all political strife in the interest of national security, while expressing full confidence in the military.
