S. Korean, US Jets Flies over S. Korean Territory in Show of Force

Amid North Korea's threat of military action over South Korea's propaganda broadcasting, South Korean and U.S. fighter jets flew over South Korea as a show of force.

A South Korean military official said Saturday that four F-16 fighter jets from the U.S. Forces Korea, and four F-15K combat jets from the South Korean Air Force, flew in formation over the central region on the Korean Peninsula.

The eight jets armed with air-to-air and air-to-surface missiles flew together along the southern side of the Military Demarcation Line toward the Yellow Sea.

During the flight, the jets held drills of striking down key enemy targets and intercepting attacks from enemy aircrafts.

A military official said that North Korea must have detected the combined flight through its radar, and the show of force is expected to deter the North from provoking.
