South Korea continued its loudspeaker propaganda broadcasting on Saturday, despite the 5pm deadline by North Korea to stop broadcasting.
A military official said Saturday that loudspeaker broadcasts were conducted as scheduled in the early morning, at eleven locations near the Military Demarcation Line.
In a statement to the public on Friday, Defense Minister Han Min-koo reaffirmed that the broadcasting is a justified measure against the North's land mine explosion attack. The minister made it clear that unless North Korea apologizes, the broadcasting will not be suspended.
After declaring a "quasi-state of war" on Friday, the North Korean military has occupied its bases and put its firepower equipment on standby. No clear signs of additional provocation have yet been reported.
The South Korean military, however, remains on its highest alert as there could be instigation around the 5 p.m. deadline set by the North to stop the military broadcasting.
