Young South Korean football players arrived in Pyongyang Sunday night for an international youth tournament that will kick off in the North Korean capital on Friday.
The South Korean delegation of roughly 80 members, including KBS reporters, traveled from Incheon to the Chinese city of Shenyang, where they boarded North Korea's Air Koryo to reach Pyongyang.
The South Korean players will start training on Monday for the U-15 football games, where eight teams from six countries will vie for the top spot August 21 through 24.
The tournament is the first time in seven years Pyongyang has invited a South Korean team for a youth football match.
It is also the first time a South Korean media outlet has traveled to Pyongyang since Seoul placed comprehensive sanctions on inter-Korean exchanges on May 24, 2010 following North Korea's torpedoing of the South Korean warship Cheonan in March of that year.
KBS will report on the training and performance of the South Korean players during the tournament.
