Female basketball player Jung Sun-min became the first Korean to debut in the U.S's WNBA Saturday.
The Seattle Storm selected Jung, a center, as its first round No. 8 pick at a draft in New Jersey. The team ranked 4th in the Western division in the 2002 season when it made the playoffs for the first time in its three-year history.
Jung, 28, was a star player when the South Korean team made it to the semifinals at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and at the world championship last year. She led her team to four national championships and has garnered four league MVP trophies.
She will fly to the United States on Monday to join team training on May 1, and will make her debut May 6 at a pre-season game.
The 2003 WNBA season starts on May 22.
