Former first lady Lee Hee-ho will visit an orphanage in Pyongyang Thursday on the second day of her visit to North Korea.
On Wednesday afternoon, she visited the Okryu Children's Hospital, which had initially been on her itinerary for Thursday.
Lee, accompanied by an 18-member delegation, landed at Pyongyang Sunan International Airport Wednesday morning.
Following visits to a maternity hospital and the children's hospital, she attended a welcome reception held by North Korea's Asia-Pacific Peace Committee.
Before departure, Director at the Kim Dae-jung Peace Center Kim Sung-jae said Lee hopes her visit will help the two Koreas heal the pain of their 70-year-long separation.
He said Lee also wants to contribute to reconciliation based on the spirit of the June 15 South-North Joint Declaration, made during a historic inter-Korean summit in 2000 between her late husband and former North Korean leader Kim Jong-il.
There is still no indication about whether the former first lady will meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
