Robot Festival to Kick Off in S. Korea

Anchor: One of the largest robot festivals in South Korea will kick off in Daejeon city on Thursday for a four-day run. The lineup will include a robot soccer tournament, a drone contest, exhibitions and film screenings.

Report: One of the largest robot shows in South Korea will kick off in Daejeon city on Thursday.

The fourth annual Robot Fusion Festival, organized by the Daejeon International Marketing Enterprise and Daejeon Technopark, will begin with an opening ceremony Thursday morning and run until Sunday.
 
The Daejeon city government expects the event to attract some 40-thousand visitors, including about seven-thousand people who will compete in two international and nine domestic competitions.
 
Highlights of the festival include the 2015 FIRA RoboWorld Cup, which is a soccer tournament played by robots, a youth robot competition and an international symposium on robots.
 
Exhibitions, a drone contest, film screenings and talks by experts will also be held on the sidelines of the festival.
 
Excluding some hands-on activities, admission as well as entry for competitions will be free of charge.
 
A Daejeon city official said the event aims to encourage aspiring engineers.
