S. Korean Futurist Report Concerned of Low-Birth, Super-Aged Society

The government has issued a "future issues report," listing the top ten problems expected to affect South Korean society in ten years.

In the report released on Thursday, the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning’s future preparations committee predicted that the low birthrate and super-aged society, inequality, and economic and social uncertainties of the young generations could be problems in the future.

The committee also recognized issues surrounding job security, low economic growth, climate change and natural disasters, North Korea-related security problems, cybercrimes and energy deficiencies as future concerns.

Made up of private experts, the committee was established last December to prepare for problems expected in the future.

Based on the latest findings, the government said it will choose two or three issues every year and devise future strategies.
