North Korea has rejected offers from Seoul to attend an international defense dialogue in September and hold talks between parliamentary speakers.
The North’s Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland said in a statement Sunday that proposals for dialogue by the South are evil gestures, accusing Seoul of political maneuvering.
It said current inter-Korean relations are in a state where the two sides cannot sit face to face or progress even by one step, adding that for dialogue to occur and relations to advance the proper atmosphere should be created first.
The committee also criticized the South Korean parliament, saying the National Assembly should be capable of independently resolving national issues.
Regarding South Korea's invitation to the Seoul Defense Dialogue, the committee said it is despicable that the South will hold defense talks as it continues to threaten peace by conspiring with the United States to bring nuclear war to the North.
