Inter-Korean Meeting Begins at Gaeseong Industrial Complex

South and North Korea began the sixth meeting of the joint committee running the Gaeseong Industrial Complex on Thursday.

Unification Ministry official and head of the South Korean delegation Lee Sang-min told reporters before leaving for Gaeseong that the delegation’s goal is to normalize operations at the industrial park.

The two sides will discuss 13 labor regulation clauses which the North has unilaterally revised, including one pertaining to a five-percent ceiling for the minimum wage hike for North Korean laborers.

The meeting will be the first since June last year after the joint committee was established in August 2013.
