The government has pledged proactive support for South Korean firms to make inroads into Iran.
In the wake of Tuesday's Iranian nuclear accord, Seoul's Finance Ministry said that it had already approved measures to help South Korean firms during last week's ministerial meeting on international economic affairs.
Once global sanctions are lifted on Iran, the Seoul government is expected to lift its ban on financial transactions with Iranian organizations and individuals and expand financing programs for South Korean companies seeking to export to the region.
While opening a support center for firms hoping to do business in Iran, the government will also sign maritime transport and customs cooperation treaties.
Through the nuclear deal, the Finance Ministry expects not only increased exports of petrochemicals and other staple products but also in the plant construction and shipbuilding sectors.
