S. Korea to Operate 60 Surveillance Cameras at Antarctic Research Bases

The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries will operate 60 surveillance cameras at the country’s two Antarctic research bases, King Sejong and Jang Bo-go stations, to monitor the local conditions in real time.

The ministry said on Monday that of the 60 cameras, one that sends the clearest images will be linked to its Web site (www.mof.go.kr) so that anyone can see the real time video.

The ministry will also launch a service that provides a three-dimensional view of the inside and outside of South Korea’s first-ever icebreaker, the Araon.
