N. Korean Soldiers Briefly Violate Military Border

A group of armed North Korean soldiers crossed the military border into the South only to return instantly after receiving warning shots on Saturday.

A South Korean Army official said Sunday that about ten North Korean soldiers crossed the Military Demarcation Line (MDP) near Cheorwon, Gangwon Province on Saturday morning.

The official said that when the South Korean military sent a warning message and fired warning shots, the armed North Korean soldiers retreated back into their side of the border without firing back.

The official added that the military is analyzing the motive behind the North Korean Army’s increased activities near the MDL this summer.
