N. Korea Offers Flight for Ex-First Lady's Trip to Pyongyang

North Korea is said to have expressed its intention to provide a flight for the former South Korean First Lady Lee Hee-ho’s planned visit to Pyongyang.

Director Kim Sung-jae of the Kim Dae-jung Peace Center said on Sunday that the North conveyed the intention, but has yet to be decided on whether or not Lee will use a plane that is provided by the North.

Kim added that the two sides agreed to decide on the matter after further consultation.

The peace center and North Korea's Asia-Pacific Peace Committee reached a tentative agreement on Monday in Gaeseong that Lee will visit Pyongyang on August 5 for a four-day trip.

The North’s peace committee, however, warned on Wednesday that Lee’s planned visit could be canceled, taking issue with South Korean media coverage of a new airport in Pyongyang.
