N. Korea Blames S. Korea for Absence of Dialogue

North Korea has reiterated that the May 24 sanctions should not be addressed during inter-Korean dialogue.

The North’s propaganda Web site, Uriminzokkiri, said Thursday that talking about dialogue while maintaining sanctions is deceitful.

The Web site claimed that the two Koreas cannot engage in talks because of continuing schemes by South Korea such as the sanctions.

Minister of Unification Hong Yong-pyo said on June 25 that the two sides may talk about the sanctions if they engage in dialogue.

The May 24 measures were put in place in 2010 following the North’s torpedoing of the South Korean naval corvette, the Cheonan.
