Officials of the Kim Dae-jung Peace Center returned from North Korea Tuesday afternoon after talks on details of a proposed North Korea trip by former first lady Lee Hee-ho.
A director at the center, Kim Sung-jae, said at the Inter-Korean Transit Office that he and his colleagues held a meeting with North Korean officials at the Gaeseong Industrial Complex.
During the meeting, the South Korean officials are said to have delivered Lee’s hope to visit the North in July.
Kim said that the North Korean officials promised to convey Lee’s wishes to North Korean authorities and expressed hope to meet again soon.
Kim said that the two sides also reconfirmed details of what they had agreed late last year regarding Lee’s visit.
According to that agreement, the 92-year-old will visit the North via an overland route, stay at the Baekhwawon State Guesthouse and visit a childcare center in Pyongyang.
