Nuke Commission Greenlights Resumption of Hanbit 2 Reactor

The Nuclear Safety and Security Commission has approved the resumption of operations at the Hanbit 2 nuclear reactor which was shut down on June 3.

The commission inspected the reactor and cleared it for safety and operation.

It also confirmed that last week's stoppage was due to an erroneous signal triggered in the power cable circuit breaker.

The commission also assessed that the reactor's operator took appropriate preventive measures including steps to resolve the cause of the malfunction.
