Thermal Cameras to Stop MERS Spread to N. Korea

Thermal scanners provided by South Korea have been installed at the inter-Korean gateway to the Gaeseong Industrial Complex to prevent the possible spread of the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) coronavirus to North Korea.

A Unification Ministry official in Seoul said Monday that two of three infrared thermal cameras have been installed at the inter-Korean transit office to check health conditions of South Koreans entering the factory park.

Ministry spokesman Lim Byung-cheol said that there were no media reports in North Korea on the spread of MERS in the South.

At the request of the North, the Seoul government supplied three thermal scanners on Friday so the North can check health conditions of South Korean who enter the complex.
