Lunar Eclipse to be Visible on April 4

A full lunar eclipse will be visible in South Korea on April 4.

The Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI) said on Wednesday that a partial eclipse will start at 7:15 in the evening on April 4 followed by a total eclipse from 8:54 p.m. The moon is predicted to rise at 6:48 p.m. that day.

During the 12-minute total lunar eclipse, the moon will appear dark and red because while the moon is in total shadow, some light from the sun passes through Earth's atmosphere and is bent toward the moon.

The last total eclipse observed in Korea was in October last year, and the next total eclipse will occur in January 2018.
