Spring Flowers Likely to Bloom 1~3 Days Earlier This Year

The blooming of spring flowers in South Korea is forecast to come one to three days earlier this year compared to previous years.

The Korea Meteorological Administration projected on Thursday that forsythias will begin blooming in Seogwipo, Jeju Island around March 15. The yellow harbinger of spring will spread to the central region, including Seoul, by around March 27.

The agency forecast that azaleas will begin to bloom in Seogwipo around March 18 and in Seoul near March 26.

The agency projected that though the nation could see one or two cold spells in early March, high temperatures are expected in the latter part of the month which would lead to the earlier than usual blooming of flowers.
