Likely Meteors Spotted in Seoul, Gyeonggi

Objects that appear to have been meteors were spotted falling from the sky in Seoul, Gyeonggi Province, North Chungcheong Province and South Jeolla Province on Sunday night.

According to witnesses at around 8:30 p.m. Sunday, brightly-lit objects fell toward the horizon after drawing a curved line in the sky.

Many of the images of the falling objects were captured by automobile dashcams.

Firefighting authorities said they have not received any reports of damage caused by the falling objects.

Experts who studied the images said the objects are likely to be meteors that emitted bright light when entering the atmosphere at high speeds. The experts said, however, it is difficult to determine where the objects fell.
