Ministry to Help Domestic Vaccine Makers Win WHO Quality Certification

The government will provide greater help for local vaccine manufacturers who want to pass the World Health Organization’s (WHO) prequalification program.

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety has been supporting domestic vaccine producers to obtain the WHO prequalification certification since 2013. Starting this year, it will expand its assistance by giving local vaccine companies more tailored counseling and information on the WHO’s quality management standards.

The WHO runs the prequalification program to ensure the safety, quality and acceptability of vaccines that are supplied to underdeveloped countries. Vaccine companies that pass the program enjoy a business advantage in the international market with the quality of their products certified.
