S. Korean Mobile Carriers Commercialize Tri-Band LTE-A Service

South Korean mobile carriers have successfully commercialized for the first time in the world tri-band LTE-A service, which is four times faster than LTE.

SK Telecom and KT said on Sunday that they have finalized preparations to launch the service and that they have formed consumer evaluation groups to verify the speed and quality of the service.

LG Uplus plans to commercialize the service early next year.

Tri-band LTE-A can achieve peak speeds of 300 megabits per second by aggregating three different frequency bands.
