Food Ministry Approves Korea's First Cell-Cultured Flu Vaccine

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety has approved Korea's first cell-cultured influenza prevention vaccine developed by SK Chemicals.

The vaccine called “Sky Cell Flu Free Field Syringe” prevents influenza in adults aged 19 or older.

It is the world's third cell-cultured influenza vaccine that will be commercialized. The vaccine can be provided in large-scale in a shorter period of time than the vaccine that uses the conventional fertile egg cultured method.

SK Chemicals said the latest approval by the ministry is the outcome of joint efforts by the government and companies to enable the country to have sovereignty over vaccines.
