Cold Snap Expected to Grip Nation from Noon Tuesday

A cold snap is expected to grip the nation from Tuesday afternoon.

The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) forecast that afternoon highs will stand below zero degrees Celsius in the central region, including minus 4 degrees for Seoul. Afternoon highs for remaining regions in the country will stand at around minus 5 to 6 degrees, or similar to morning lows.

The weather agency said South Chungcheong Province, the Jeolla Provinces and Jeju Island will again see snowfall starting from noon. The agency forecast that west coastal regions in South Chungcheong Province will see up to 10 centimeters of snowfall until Wednesday and the Jeolla Provinces will receive between 3 and 8 centimeters.

Most of the regions nationwide are expected to see clear skies on Wednesday but temperatures will remain low.

The KMA said a cold snap advisory could be issued on Wednesday as morning lows are set to plunge to minus 17 degrees in central inland areas and mountainous areas in North Gyeongsang Province.
