Heavy Snow Expected for Entire Nation on Monday

Heavy snow is expected to fall throughout the nation on Monday bringing about a cold snap on Tuesday.

The Korea Meteorological Administration forecast that rain or snow will begin to fall in the central region from noon before steadily expanding throughout the entire nation.

Heavy snow is expected for the central region’s inland areas and the southern region’s mountainous areas from Monday evening.

The weather agency projected that regions west of the Daegwallyeong mountain pass in Gangwon Province will see up to 20 centimeters of snow. Gyeonggi Province’s eastern regions, North Chungcheong Province and northern regions in North Gyeongsang Province are expected to receive 3 to 15 centimeters of snow.

Remaining areas, including Seoul, are forecast to witness 1 to 5 centimeters with snow expected to stop falling from Tuesday morning.

Afternoon highs for Monday are projected to be warmer than Sunday, but a cold snap is expected to grip the nation from Tuesday as temperatures will plunge when the snow stops falling. Morning highs for Seoul are expected to stand at around minus 10 degrees Celsius until the latter half of this week.
