The Defense Agency for Technology and Quality said Tuesday the nation has domestically developed an infrared ray detector for the portable anti-aircraft guided missile, the Shingung.

The device detects the infrared ray emitted from the enemy plane and helps the guided missile accurately hit it.

The agency said the development cost 14-point-three billion won for five years but the domestically produced detector will help the nation save 60 billion won by replacing the imported ones.
