Freezing Temperatures Continue to Grip Nation Friday

Freezing temperatures continue to grip the nation on Friday while South Chungcheong Province and the Jeolla Provinces are seeing heavy snow for the fifth day.
 
Morning lows stood at minus 9 degrees Celsius in Seoul and between 6 and 9 below zero in Chuncheon, Daejeon and Cheongju. Southern regions, including Daegu, Jeonju, Gwangju and Busan saw their morning lows range between minus 2 and minus 4. Only Jeju Island saw temperatures above zero with its morning low standing at 6.
 
North Jeolla Province has been hit by heavy snowfall for the past four days. Buan County has seen 29 centimeters of snowfall, while the city of Jeongeup saw 22 centimeters and Gunsan 16 centimeters. 
 
The Korea Meteorological Administration has forecast that the west coast regions of South Chungcheong Province and North Jeolla Province will see between 5 and 15 more centimeters of snow until Saturday. Between 2 to 7 more centimeters of snowfall is expected for the inland areas of South Chungcheong Province and the Jeolla Provinces.
 
The weather agency projected that afternoon highs will stand at around minus 3 degrees for Seoul, down 2 degrees from Thursday.
 
At sea, high waves are predicted to reach 1.5 to 6 meters.
