Domestic Team Develops Technology to Mix Oil and Water

A domestic research team claims that is has developed the world’s first technology to mix water and oil without the use of surface active agents or dispersants.

The team, led by Choo Min-chul at the Korea Standards Research Institute, said Tuesday that it successfully mixed oil and water by sending high frequency waves of 500 kilohertz using a cylinder-type focus device to reduce the size of oil particles to tens of nano meters.

The team, which completed patent applications both at home and abroad, expects that the technology can be used in various sectors of eco-friendly cosmetics, medicine and semiconductors.
