'Korea to Install Anti-pollution Facility for Chinese Steel Firms'

South Korea and China have agreed to a project of installing air pollution prevention facilities for Chinese steel firms by Korean environmental companies.

Seoul's Environment Ministry said Tuesday that following talks between the two countries' environment ministers, it will begin the project by choosing five out of ten Chinese firms for the antipollution facilities. The ten firms will be suggested by China's Ministry of Environmental Protection.

The ministry said Korean firms that are interested in taking part in the project will be recruited from as early as next month with the aim to begin the project early next year.

As a follow-up to a memorandum of understanding between President Park Geun-hye and President Xi Jinping in July, the project is expected to generate at least 200 billion won in economic effects.
