S. Korea Develops Blood Test to Diagnose Dementia

South Korean researchers have developed a blood test to diagnose dementia.

A team from the Korea Institute of Science and Technology led by Dr. Kim Young-soo said it has developed the technology that can easily detect changes in density of beta-amyloid protein, which causes Alzheimer's disease, through a simple blood test.

The team has proven the validity of the test through scientific trials on mice.

The research team is currently developing equipment that can thoroughly analyze very small amounts of the Alzheimer's causing protein.

The latest research has been published in the international journal, "Scientific Reports."
