S. Korea Wins Astronomy Olympiad

South Korea has finished first in the 19th International Astronomy Olympiad held in Kyrgyzstan from October 12 to 21.
 
The Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning and the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity announced Tuesday that Korea won the Olympiad with two gold, three silver and two bronze medals.
 
This year, 79 students from 17 countries competed in the ten-day competition.
 
All seven Korean students who took part in the Olympiad won medals, including An Hyeong-seo from Gyeonggi Science High School for the Gifted who won the grand prize.
 
South Korea has competed in the International Astronomy Olympiad since the 8th event held in Sweden in 2003. The 2012 Olympiad was held in the South Korean city of Gwangju.
