First Cold Wave Watch Issued Tuesday Morning

Morning lows plunged sharply across the nation on Tuesday as Typhoon Vongfong made its way toward Japan.

The Korea Meteorological Administration issued the first cold wave watch of the fall at 5 a.m. Tuesday for Gyeonggi Province, the northern parts of Gangwon Province and the city of Jecheon in North Chungcheong Province.

In particular, morning lows in North Chungcheong Province stood between two-point-six and eight-point-eight degrees Celsius.

In Seoul, the morning temperature stood at nine degrees as of 5 a.m. and at 12-point-nine degrees in the southern port city of Busan.

A cold wave watch is issued when morning lows plunge more than ten degrees Celsius from the previous day and stand at below three degrees Celsius. The first cold wave watch came about one month earlier than last year.
