The United Nations’ International Telecommunications Union (ITU) meeting will open on October 20 in the southern port city of Busan.
The Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning said on Tuesday that the 19th ITU Plenipotentiary Conference will be held for three weeks through November 7 at the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center (BEXCO).
Telecommunications ministers from 193 countries will attend the meeting to discuss and decide global IT policies.
The ministry said that in order to prevent the spread of the Ebola virus, the government asked Guinea, Sierra Leone and other countries where Ebola cases have been reported to send their diplomats staying in South Korea, instead of sending delegates from their countries.
If those countries send delegates from abroad, the government plans to closely monitor their conditions during the conference and install body temperature detectors at the venue of the conference.
