Media and information company Thomson Reuters has included Korean scientists in a select list of promising Nobel Prize candidates.
The multinational firm announced its predictions on Thursday for the next Nobel Prize winners.
Among them are Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) Professor Yoo Ryong and Charles Lee, a Yale professor of Korean descent.
Lee is a leading scientist in the human genetics field while Yoo is a globally renowned expert in studying a functional substance called zeolite.
Since 2002, Thomson Reuters has announced its list of “Nobel-class” citation laureates in the four categories of physiology/medicine, physics, chemistry and economics. Twenty five out of the 156 scientists predicted by Thomson Reuters have won Nobel prizes.
This year marks the first time Korean scientists have been chosen in the Thomson Reuters Citation Laureates.
The announcement of the Nobel laureates will begin on October 6.
