Kakao and Line Shut Down in China Due to Terrorists' Use

The Chinese government has shut down the popular South Korean mobile messengers, KakaoTalk and Line within China's borders.

The Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning said Thursday that the messengers were shut down after the Chinese government learned that terrorists were using them to disseminate ways to make bombs. The ministry said some other foreign mobile messenger services have also been shut down in China for the same reason.

The users of KakaoTalk and Line in China began complaining on July 1 about having trouble sending messages and signing on to the messaging services.
