Institute Establishes Database on Drug Responses

The National Institute of Food and Drug Safety Evaluation has established a database comparing drug responses by different races and ethnicities in order to support the development of drugs customized for Koreans.

The institute under the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety said Thursday that the data would provide a comparison in drug responses between South Koreans and other racial and ethnic groups. The comparison is expected to help secure the safety and effectiveness of drugs in developing medicines for Koreans.

The database contains comparative data for the response and effectiveness of 194 medicines.
