Nation's 165 GNSS Observatories to be Integrated

The nation’s 165 global navigation satellite system (GNSS) observatories will share signals and data.

The National Geographic Information Institute said Thursday that the eight organizations that operate the GNSS centers adopted an agreement to integrate their observatories.

The eight organizations include the Korean Space Weather Center, the National Meteorological Satellite Center, the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute.

An official of the National Geographic Information Institute said the integration is expected to advance each organization’s satellite capabilities and expand related activities without having to set up additional observatories.

GNSS observatories receive various satellite signals used in navigation systems, meteorological observation and geophysical research.
