The Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning says that meteorites that fell in Jinju, South Gyeongsang Province in March belong to whoever finds them first.

The decision is based on Article 252 of the nation's Civil Law.

The ministry also decided to revise the space development promotion law to introduce a system that requires registration of meteorites in order to prevent illegal overseas transfer or loss of the rocks.
