Researchers Develop Technology to Make Chameleon Crystals

A University of Michigan research team has developed a new technology that could transform the display and sensor industries.

The technology can make crystals change their colors like a chameleon by controlling the movement of micro particles in real time with light.

An article on the technology was published in the scientific journal Nature Communications.

The article's lead author is Kim Young-ri, a Korean chemical engineering Ph.D. student at Michigan.

The research team has applied for a preliminary patent for the technology.

The university also introduced the technology in its Web site, and a demonstration can be found on YouTube.
