KCDC Issues Warning Against Japanese Encephalitis

The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has issued a nationwide warning against Japanese encephalitis.

The warning was made after the transmitter of the disease was found in the southern port city of Busan.

The disease control agency issues a warning for Japanese encephalitis when red mosquitoes, which carry the virus, are first spotted. The agency issues an alert when a case of Japanese encephalitis virus is reported or the number of red mosquitoes increases.

The KCDC conducted a study in Busan and 37 other regions to predict the outbreak of the mosquito-borne disease.

No red mosquitoes have been found in other regions other than Busan. (2014.04.21.15:00:56)
