The Grunge Look for Fall 2016
Fall is in full swing and that means a wardrobe refresh is in order! Today I’m going to introduce tips on how to wear the grunge look—one of the hottest trends of the season.

Plaids
This fall, 90’s-inspired looks still remain popular and one “it” item taking over stores at the moment is the plaid shirts. The checked trend is definitely back for fall 2016 and plaids—a design that consists of crossing stripes—are a subtle way to introduce print and color to a wardrobe dominated by neutral tones and simple designs. To wear plaids, start with the button-downs, which are great for layering between seasons. For the office, swap your everyday plain white button-down for a chic plaid shirt and instantly update your look. The Fall/Winter 2016 runways saw an abundance and vibrant combination of plaids in reds, greens, yellows, and neutral tones, giving us endless options to choose from. For an extra fun spin, opt for a plaid winter coat featuring big wide stripes. When rocking the look, let the statement coat be the focal point of your outfit and keep the rest of the look toned down.

Ripped Jeans
Another perennial fall staple is the ripped denim jeans—a foundation piece for every grunge outfit. To wear the trend, opt for loose-fitting boyfriend jeans with a distressed and tattered look—designed to look ripped and worn out, which are “in” this fall. For casual outings, swap your favorite dark skinnies for a pair of distressed boyfriend jeans with lots of rips and tears. A pair of well-chosen distressed jeans will perfectly go well with just about any other fall tops—everything from plain white shirts, plaids to sweatshirts, trench coats and bomber jackets. Pick up a pair of distressed jeans and get the perfect grunge look!

90’s-inspired accessories
To work some grunge attitude into your fall look, mix and match 90’s-inspired accessories. Among others, the choker necklaces, platform sneakers, and backpacks are super hot at the moment. The chokers in various designs—from metal chokers to super tight black leather chokers—were seen everywhere on the runways for Fall/Winter 2016. In addition, vintage platform sneakers and backpacks are back. To rock the grunge look, just throw on a choker, a pair of platform sneakers and a 90’s style backpack with thick and padded straps and you’ll be good to go!

Play with these tips and pull off the grunge look in a stylish way!
