SM Entertainment is planning to branch out into a completely new sector: education.
According to reports, the entertainment giant is planning to open up an alternative high school called "K-Pop International School". The institution will teach basic subjects like Korean, English, and mathematics, but will also offer classes teaching music, ballet, etc. The curriculum seeks to help students follow their dreams in entertainment.
The school will be a legitimate education institution that will prepare its students for middle school and high school qualification exams. There will also be programs welcoming middle and high school students from the USA. Foreign transfer students will make up a big part of the student body; 70% foreigners and 30% Koreans.
SM Entertainment is planning on opening the international school this September, with 50-100 students making up the first year class.
